Mental Health & Suicide Prevention in Wyoming

In Wyoming, strength is a way of life. People show up, work hard, and take care of their own. But strength should not mean struggling in silence.

Our state has one of the highest suicide rates in the country. Behind every number is a person, a family, and a community that feels that loss. In rural areas, the challenges are even greater—long distances to care, limited providers, and the reality that it’s not always easy to ask for help in a small town where everyone knows your name.

We can do better—and we must.

Mental health is not separate from overall health. It affects families, schools, workplaces, and the future of our communities. Access to support, early intervention, and open conversations can save lives.

What I’ll Focus On:

• Expanding access to mental health services in rural communities, including telehealth options

• Supporting local providers and increasing the mental health workforce in Wyoming

• Strengthening crisis response systems and prevention programs

• Encouraging open, stigma-free conversations so people feel safe asking for help

• Supporting schools, families, and community programs that promote early intervention and resilience

If you or someone you know is struggling, you are not alone. Help is available, and reaching out is a sign of strength.
